Nov. 7th Works are nothing

This devotional was taken from http://www.donutholes.biz

John 6:26-29 - Do not work for rotten food
Consider what kind of “food” you’re earning? How long will it last?

26Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. 27Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."
28Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"
29Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."

There are times when I read the passage suggested that I want to think of a different thought than the one asked. Here I really want to focus on vrs. 28,29 where Jesus explains the work we must do for God. He says we are, “to believe in the one he has sent.” Interesting that just this Sunday Pastor Bob (our Sr Pastor at NCBC) was sharing all about work based faith (if you want to see and hear more about this please go to: http://www.newcovenantbible.org/ncbc/deeper_impactstudy.asp).

That it will get us no where to focus on working our way to heaven, cause we just can’t do enough for the sins we have done. Instead we must turned to our Lord and Savior who is the only one who was able to do enough (because He was the perfect lamb). Thank you Lord for being able to remove my sins.
