Sponsor Retreat 2006-07

Each year we meet with our sponsor team (the adult volunteers) that work with us to ministry to the jr and sr highers in our youth group. This year we got a chance to stay at a new hotel that was awesome. The retreat was also incredible as we got the next year planned out, teams put together and working together, and many other things. I'm really looking forward to what is going to happen this year. Our web site will be updated soon and I hope that many more jr hi kids, parents, and sponsors will get a chance to check out this great tool to get information and connections there. This is going to be a year about the "One."

I love being a dad

It's after 3:30 am and I couldn't sleep. So I got up and started to listen to the Bible. About 10 min. later Daniel starts crying like crazy and wakes himself and Nathaniel. I grab Daniel and just hold him and Nathaniel says, "I don't want to be by myself." So I took them down stairs with me and they both fell a sleep on the sofa (that is the picture). Interesting that not more than 10 min later Daniel starts to giggle like crazy in his sleep. I love being a dad.

Fun with our young couply friends

Lisa and I started a small group last year that has shrank to only two coules (Lisa and myself and a young couple Joel and Jenni). We did the Impact our church series put on for us (to hear a some of the message on that series please click here) together, then did a long and slow read of the book of John (really enjoyed just reading through this book) and then did a study called "Going deeper with God." We are now in "limbo" and have been enjoying getting to know each other through games. It is interesting that as two couples we are really enjoying this and it has been a great bonding time for us. The two games that we have recently been enjoying have been the most fun to me. One game is called fact or crap and the other is called killer bunnies. Both are challenging but yet give us plenty of time to just talk and enjoy each others company. We have already signed up to be another IMPACT small group host this coming year and we are all looking forward to including some more people in our group.

It's a kids life

Wow! what a week. After a great trip to adventureland with the family my daughter and I on Wed. took off for our church's yearly kids camp. We were gone for 4 days 3 nights and it was awesome and tiring. The theme of the camp was based around Jer. 1:7 "GOD told me, "Don't say, 'I'm only a boy (child).' I'll tell you where to go and you'll go there. I'll tell you what to say and you'll say it (MSG)." We shared with the kids that they two, even as kids, do big things for God. Family trip to Adventureland - Des Monies, IA

My daughter Lindsey has a class mate that won 4 tickets to adventureland in Des Monies, IA. Her friend's parents couldn't go so she asked if we could go and so we took the trip with my family yesterday (July 31st). My wife Lisa just got back the day before from a 10 day Mexico mission trip. She is such a trooper and has the abilty to do so much. I love my wife more today than ever. The trip was an increadble time with my family and Lindsey's friend. Thanks to her and her mom and dad.
